If you’re anywhere near Sedona, Arizona do yourself a favor and visit Slide Rock State Park!
Nestled in Oak Creek Canyon, this red rock swimming hole is natural waterpark full of adventure. There aren’t many places in the United States like Slide Rock State Park where you can go cliff jumping, rock climbing and best of all riding down natural water slides and waterfalls!
TRAVELING THERE
Slide Rock State Park is located in the Coconino National Forest less than 10 miles north of Sedona and 20 miles south of Flagstaff off of Arizona State Route 89A.
For up to date hours and prices check out the official Slide Rock State Park website. Typically, the park opens around 8:00AM year round, closes between 5:00PM – 7:00PM and costs between $10 – $20 per car. Compare that to waterpark prices, it’s a steal! And so much better!!
WHAT I DID
Slide Rock State Park has a special place in my heart for adventure and nostalgia.
My first visit was 13 years ago during the summer of 2004. My cousins told me they were going to visit their brother in Flagstaff so naturally I took invited myself! The four of us ventured to Slide Rock State Park. It was love at first sight… or rather, first 50+ foot jump.
Three years later after graduating from Boston College in 2007 I decided to move to LA and road trip west. I made sure to route us through Slide Rock State Park.
Ten years later (shit! I’m still in denial I graduated college TEN years ago) my friend and What’s Good?! co-host Amy and I traveled to Flagstaff for a spiritual retreat giving me another excuse to revisit Slide Rock State Park!

During my most recent visit to Slide Rock State Park I couldn’t help but go down memory lane. Thinking back to my 20-year-old self, so much has changed in my life since jumping from that exact spot for the first time, yet Slide Rock Park has stayed the same. Even though I have grown over the years, being back there made me realize at the core I too am still the same — just like surrounding red rocks. No matter my age I still get the same childlike excitement over travel experiences and am saying YES to adventure.
