ABOUT THIS ADVENTURE
Recently I shared my Top 10 #OMGB Moments in Pembrokeshire Wales and at the top of my list was Preseli Venture “Endorphin Blaster Adventure Days.” Preseli Venture offers half day outdoor experiences that include coasteering – a sport that involves rock climbing, cliff jumping and swimming along a rocky coastline – sea kayaking and surfing.
Two days before my adventure with Preseli Venture I actually had gone coasteering with another company. I loved that Preseli Venture uses different locations (than Celtic Quest) because it provides a completely different experience. The company does a phenomenal job of picking secluded areas with no views of towns, cars and other people. For my coasteering trip Preseli Venture took us to St. David’s where we were treated to an entire morning of gorgeous cliffs, caves and coves.
TRAVELING THERE
Preseli Venture operates out of Mathry, near Fishguard where they also have an eco lodge for accommodations. All you have to do is show up to the lodge and they take care of the rest including: free parking, transportation to and from the chosen location of the day, kit (wetsuits, helmet, socks, shoes, life jackets, etc.) and experienced guides. Preseli Venture also is licensed to use National Trust locations on the coast and has access to secluded coastline.
WHAT I DID
Choosing between coasteering, sea kayaking and surfing is a win-win for any adventure junkie! You truly can’t go wrong. Since coasteering originated in Pembrokeshire and is unique to Wales, we decided coasteering was a must (again). Preseli Venture took us to a very remote location where the entire coastline was our own personal outdoor playground.
After a morning of coasteering, we returned to the Preseli Venture eco lodge for a warm, hearty and delicious home cooked meal. We also opted for a afternoon of sea kayaking. Soon enough we were paddling in the waters of the Coastal National Park. Alongside the coast we kayaked in and out of caves and near beaches. The guides were extremely knowledgeable about natural rock formations and native sea life. They were also pros at helping us tackle choppier waters.
WHERE I STAYED
I spent six nights at the Warpool Court Hotel which was such a treat! For starters, my jaw dropped at the breathtaking view as I entered the room. The window looked like a Monet painting. The hotel staff made us feel at home no matter where we were on the grounds. Gorgeous views from the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path are just a short walk from the back patio. This castle-like lodging was an incredible home base for exploring and enjoying Pembrokeshire Wales at a slower pace than I’m used to. I also spoke to travelers who stayed at the Preseli Venture eco lodge and they loved it. It has more of a backpacker vibe and is a great home base for their adventures.
